1957 Flame Yearbook Reprint Available on Amazon
I was surprised to find out that a reprint of the 1957 Andrew Warde High School Flame yearbook is available at amazon.com. The cost is $79.95, but the item is shipped free with Super Saving Shipper. Since the high school opened in the Fall of 1956, this was the first-ever yearbook published by the Warde students. Click the image below to visit the Web site.
According to the advertisement, this copy is a softcover reprint of a previously owned high school yearbook. Whether you no longer have your own copy or want to surprise someone with a unique gift, the memories in this yearbook are sure to make someone smile!
All the pages and images are reproduced as-is, which means your copy may show handwriting or effects of aging, and that certain pages, images, or other content may be omitted, missing, or obscured. Don't miss out! Bring home a piece of your history.
I think that's a great idea! Copies of each of the Flame yearbooks should be reprinted and available online for students who may have misplaced or never ordered their yearbooks. I would be willing to reproduce my 1976 Flame yearbook. How about you?

Warde Students Recognized by Easter Seal Rehabilitation Center for Outstanding Fundraising Effort 40 Years Ago This Week
The Easter Seal Rehabilitation Center of Eastern Fairfield County paid special tribute to the students of Andrew Warde High School "who have shown the greatest effort among all participating area high schools in their response to the needs of their fellow man in 1970 and 1971." That's according to a newspaper story which appeared in The Bridgeport Post, Wednesday, June 23, 1971.
Warde students raised $3,304 under the chairmanship of Miss Karen Medve (pictured above left) and Miss Nancy Whiteman. Mrs. Jay Kaner, vice president of the Rehabilitation Center's board of directors, presented a plaque to be displayed at the school to Miss Medve and Mr. Kenneth Petersen, headmaster.

Andrew Warde High School's Class of 1961 Finalizing Plans for 50-Year Reunion
The following was written by Don Messer from the Andrew Warde High School Class of 1961.
Hello to All of '61.
I have some great news! Because of all the interest shown by our classmates, we have close to 100 contacts so far! We are in the process of locating a venue and time for our 50-year reunion. The project is a "GO!"
Everyone we have talked to is really excited about getting together. It has been a joy for me talking to so many old friends. Dave Schempp and Dave Larson have been most helpful as has Hope McClatchey, Lois Proto, and Marjorie Byteck. Let us know if you plan on attending and if you will be bringing a guest. We will send the date as soon as we have one.
Just e-mail your info to AWHSclass1961@aol.com. PLEASE look for more PEOPLE. Many of our concerns need lead time, so a head count is very important. Hope everyone's summer is off to a good start.
Best regards,
Don

Message from Don Messer from the Andrew Warde High School Class of 1961
'61 Classmates,
More and more classmates are being found, but now the search is getting a bit more difficult and we need help from those who have been found. I have attached a partial list of found classmates. They are all excited about a reunion.
Any info on people, be it state or town of residence, would be extremely helpful. As I said before, this event will be planned by everyone with the help of the internet. I hope names will stimulate your memory (long-term memory, as we all know about short-term memory). Click on the lists below to see the names and email addresses.
Now, where was I? Oh, yeah...pull out the yearbook and jog you brain and maybe we can find some more people. The search continues on our end but becomes more time-consuming. Hope everyone's summer is going well. Click the image below to access the class Facebook page.

Andrew Warde High School's Class of 1961 Hoping to Find Classmates for 50-Year Reunion
The following was written by Don Messer from the Andrew Warde High School Class of 1961.
The 1961 Crimson Eagles
Fifty years ago, the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, is inaugurated, Yuri Gagarin, a Russian, is the first man launched in space to be followed by American Alan Shepard. The Berlin Wall goes up, separating Germany into East and West, and, oh yes, Andrew Warde graduates the second class to complete four years at Fairfield's sparkling new high school. This all took place a half a century ago!
After all these years, no plan was laid to get these “Crimsom Eagles" back together, except for one lone “Eagle," Ann Reuther, still a world-class swimmer in her sixties. Ann’s attempt in generating interest was slow due to lack of exposure and turning over rocks to find these lost Eagles. So, a few old “Screaming Eagles" --- maybe "Squeaking Eagles" now --- decided to join forces with the aid of 21st century tools, mainly the Internet, to find the “Class of 1961.”
So far we are not that far from finding 100 of these fossils out of a class of 375. We are still in the discovery process to determine how big an event this will be and then make arrangements accordingly. If anyone has any information as to the whereabouts, even if it’s just the state or town of residence, it would be greatly appreciated.
Contact can be made at AWHSclass1961@aol.com or on Facebook page named ANDREW WARDE with the school building as its icon. For all us searchers, this has been a labor of love and most enjoyable talking with old friends from half a century ago.

Members of AWHS 1976,
Our first e-mail (May 26) advised you to save the date of Saturday, August 6, 2011 for our 35-year High School Class Reunion. Please note that due to reasons beyond our control, it was necessary to change the reunion venue, but the date stays the same, and the time span simply changes by one half-hour (later) at both ends of the evening.
The new venue, Brennan's Shebeen Irish Bar and Grill, is located on the premises of H. Smith Richardson Golf Course in Fairfield, CT. The new details have been posted on our class Web.
The time span is now: 7:30 to 12:30, with "last call" occurring at 12 midnight.
The "Heavy and Hearty" Hot and Cold Appetizers will include:
- Chicken Wings (BBQ and Spicy)
- Cheeseburger Sliders
- Chicken Quesadilla
- Finger Sandwiches (various)
- Mini-Reubens
- Crab Cakes
Cash Bar will be available throughout the night.
DJ music all night. You may send in personal song requests, which will be forwarded to the DJ (though not all requests can be guaranteed). Please note our price is almost $20 lower than in 2006. The methods of payment are detailed on our Class Web.
We hope to see all of you in two months!
Tony Procaccini
