Andrew Warde High School's resurgent baseball team extended its winning streak to four games with a 3-2 triumph over Staples in Westport on this date, Friday, May 4, 1962.Coach Bob Jackson's Crimson Eagles broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the seventh inning. Mike Gorlo's double, two errors, and a walk produced the two runs. The hosts from Westport countered with a single run in their half of the inning as Phil Koda slammed his third hit of the game. However, Warde pitcher Hank Bahe bore down in time to preserve the narrow victory.
Bahe tossed a six-hit complete game victory. He struck out six, walked three, and yielded one earned run. The Eagles managed just five hits in the game and scored one run in the third inning after Staples opened the scoring with a run in the first frame.
