Andrew Warde High School Community Mourns Passing of Longtime English Teacher Robert Strunk

Robert Franklyn Strunk, 81, husband of the late Barbara Line Strunk, died Monday, April 20, 2015, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital.

Born December 5, 1933, in Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Lewis Charles Strunk III and the late Helen Maude Ryan Strunk. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He traveled extensively and lived abroad for four years.

He loved teaching school for over 40 years in Pennsylvania, Connecticut (Andrew Warde High School), and South Carolina. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Manning and enjoyed singing in the choir.

He is survived by a son, Eric Franklyn Strunk (Julie) of Loveland, Ohio; two daughters, Emilee Ann Gillilan (Jay) of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Leslie Louise Potter (Tim) of Pittsfield, Massachusetts; a brother, Thomas Strunk (Mary) of Williamsport, Pennsylvania; a sister, Ann Edinger of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015, at the Presbyterian Church at Manning with the Rev. Dr. George G. Wilkes officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service and at other times at the residence, 1148 Blue Heron Point, Manning.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church at Manning, P.O. 207, Manning, South Carolina 29102. Stephens Funeral Home & Crematory, 304 N. Church St., Manning, is in charge of arrangements.
